Sometimes I feel as though I want to blow TP into smithereens

Dear Ms Jane.

Yi Qian here.

I have just received the email notifying me of the subjects which I would be taking next year.

I am finding it very difficult to accept this decision which had been taken for me as I had signed up early for my subject combinations when asked to.

Furthermore, there were no further reasons or rational given behind as to why a decision has been made for me. To me, just a “very sorry you couldn’t get in” is not sufficient.

Although I do appreciate the additional choice that the school has kindly given me. I would appreciate it even more if the rational was explained to me.

However, if the reason given is that it was a random picking of "unfortunate" students who didn’t get their chosen combinations. It would be a reason which I find unreasonable.

Firstly, it was suppose to be on a first come first serve basis. If the names on blackboard are the last few who signed up resulting in them not getting the subject allotments, I would be satisfied with nothing more to complain off. However, there must be some documentation with time stamps to prove it.

However if there were students who signed up after the mentioned students in the blackboard announcement and got their subject combinations which they wanted, I would wonder how fair is the basis of subject allotment and how true that it was on a first come first serve basis.

Secondly. The reason why I chose not to take advance civil procedure is because I am poor in civil procedure as reflected in my grades and have no interest in it whatsoever. I find it unreasonable not to mention silly for me to be forced to take a subject which I have no aptitude in whatsoever. It’s my last year at the polytechnic and I do not want to take a subject which I feel I would not do well in or in a worst case scenario, fail. I do want to graduate on time with my peers. This is of great concern to me considering I could barely cope with civil procedure during the last school semester. You may check with Ms Sylvia Lim to verify that I am inept at the abovementioned subject.

I worry that if there is no other alternative for me but to take advance civil procedure, it would prove to be a very unhappy semester for me not to mention a very poor grade. I do not want to fail. I'm not saying I would fail the subject before I have even attempted it. But I think the chance is there if its not evident enough based on my civil procedure grade and my performance in class.

Although it’s my future, it is fair enough to say that the school has some bearing on it as well. I clearly, for one do not see myself doing civil procedure after graduation. My inclination would be to work under the other 2 industries which the other 2 subjects carter for.

Thus I hope that the decision made for me can be put under review and renewed consideration.

I take this very seriously and I hope the school authorities will do the same.

Thank you for your time and hope to hear from you soon.

Its not easy to criticise the school without using the four letter word and different various dialects and ethic language profanities.
